Mikolaj ‘Elazer’ Ogonowski and Julian ‘Lambo’ Brosig flew to China to attend to WESG 2017: from March 13th-18th, our StarCraft II players will face the best players in the world in a tournament with a first prize of $200,000.

The 2017 World Electronic Sports Games are organized by Alibaba Group and feature four different disciplines: StarCraft II, Hearthstone, Dota 2 and CS:GO. The Haikou International Convention & Exhibition Center is the venue chosen to host this huge event.

WESG 2017: the StarCraft II Tournament

The 32 StarCraft II qualified players were split in 8 groups of 4 players each. The Round of 32 of WESG 2017 will be played in a Best of 3 format: only the best two players will advance to Round of 16.

The Round of 16 will be another group stage where all the matches will be Best of 5: again, the best two players will get to the Playoffs. Quarterfinals and semifinals are scheduled in a Best of 5 format, while the Finals will be a Best of 7.

Elazer’s and Lambo’s groups

Our Elazer and Lambo were included in Group G and Group H respectively. Mikolaj will face ‘TIME’, ‘Maru’, and ‘Semper’, while Julian’s opponents will be ‘Neeb’, ‘Kelazhur’, and ‘Drager’.

Groups from A to D will be played on Tuesday March 13th, while the other four groups (G and H included) are scheduled on Wednesday March 14th. The second group stage will be split among Thrusday 15th and Friday 16th, while quarterfinals and semifinals will be played Saturday 17th.

The WESG 2017 winner will be decided Sunday March 18th.
